Asset Generator — Consistent Marketing & UI Assets, On Demand

ToolingEngineering

Context / The Problem

I needed a way to generate a lot of icons and images for my projects—fast. I developed a consistent style with ChatGPT and DALL-E, but the process was slow: waiting for each image, saving, renaming, resizing, and making copies for different uses. It was all busywork that broke my flow. I wanted to focus on building, not babysitting image generation.

The Solution (What it Does)

Asset Generator is a script I built to automate bulk icon and image generation. I just list the icons I need, and it uses the OpenAI API to generate them in the background—no more waiting around. It also handles resizing and converting, so I get consistent, branded outputs every time. I use it for Cartoon Icon Gen, Blueprint Icon Gen, and 3D Preview Gen.

User Story (How I Use It)

I open Asset Generator, list out the icons or images I need, and start the script. It generates everything in the background while I work on other tasks. When it’s done, I have a folder full of ready-to-use assets—no manual renaming or resizing. I can focus on building, not on busywork.

What it can do today (Draft Scope)

  • Bulk icon/image generation (Cartoon, Blueprint, 3D Preview)
  • Uses OpenAI API for style consistency
  • Batch resizing and conversion

What it intentionally isn’t

  • A replacement for Photoshop
  • A “design for you” button

It’s a leverage tool, not a taste engine.

Media to add later

  • Presets screen (format choices)
  • Input folder → output folder demo GIF
  • Example grid of outputs (thumbnail/icon/banner)

Summary

What it solves for me:

  • Removes the friction between building and sharing.
  • Produces consistent outputs without manual tweaking.

What I’ve learned:

  • Consistency beats novelty for most product visuals.
  • If you make marketing easy, you do it more often.
