Day 64 — Tooling Sprint: House Builder & Audio Editor
Context
I’m finally back in a steady rhythm after the hardware setback. Today’s focus shifted slightly away from Island Crossing gameplay systems and toward strengthening the production pipeline.
Day 64 preview
House Builder Expansion
My primary focus right now is continuing development of the House Builder app. The goal is simple: create the architectural assets needed to construct the Campus—without depending on inconsistent marketplace assets.
Today I:
- Expanded feature support for walls, doors, and structural elements
- Improved export compatibility with UEFN
- Continued refining workflow so iteration feels fast and predictable
This app is becoming a true force multiplier. Every improvement compounds future speed.
AudioEditor App
I also began building a new AudioEditor app to help modify and prepare sound effects for the game.
Instead of manually trimming, converting, and normalizing audio files across different tools, this app will:
- Batch edit audio clips
- Convert formats as needed
- Prepare files specifically for UEFN integration
This should reduce friction significantly once I start polishing audio more seriously.
Bigger Picture
These aren’t flashy gameplay updates, but they’re important. The better my tools are, the faster I can build the actual game without fighting the pipeline.
Summary
What I accomplished:
- Expanded House Builder features for Campus asset production
- Improved export workflows
- Began development of a dedicated AudioEditor app
What I learned:
- Production tools are long-term leverage
- Small workflow improvements reduce massive friction over time
- Investing in pipeline now prevents burnout later
